Manufacturing Process
1. Product Design & Development
The main body housing is developed according to the overall machine dimensions, internal component arrangement, motor and pump position, tank interfaces, electrical layout, hose routing, control arrangement, handle position, and available assembly space. Wall thickness, mounting points, ventilation, cable routing, component clearances, structural support, and interfaces with other machine parts are evaluated during product development.
2. Plastic Mould Design
The injection mould is designed according to the housing geometry and required mounting bosses, screw posts, ribs, clips, tabs, openings, locating features, ventilation sections, and component interfaces. The cavity, core, parting line, gate location, runner system, cooling channels, venting, and ejection arrangement are planned to support accurate formation of the main body housing.
Special attention can be given to draft angles, wall-thickness consistency, shrinkage, warpage control, and parting-line placement to support smooth mould release and stable production.
3. Mould Manufacturing
The mould can be manufactured using suitable tool steel such as P20 Steel, H13 Steel, or S136 Steel, depending on production volume, required mould life, dimensional requirements, and surface finish. CNC machining, EDM, grinding, polishing, fitting, and mould trials are performed as required.
4. Injection Moulding
The selected thermoplastic material is heated and injected into the mould cavity under controlled processing conditions. Injection pressure, melt temperature, holding pressure, cooling time, and cycle time are adjusted according to the selected material and housing geometry to support consistent production.
Processing parameters are controlled to help achieve uniform filling, suitable surface quality, reduced warpage, accurate mounting features, and repeatable dimensions.
5. Finishing & Assembly Preparation
After moulding, gates and excess plastic are removed where applicable. Mounting bosses, screw posts, clips, ventilation openings, hose interfaces, tank interfaces, cable passages, and housing edges are inspected and finished as required before assembly.
6. Quality Inspection
Finished main body housings are inspected for dimensional accuracy, wall thickness, mounting features, component clearances, surface quality, warpage, flash, and proper fitment with the intended upholstery cleaner components and assemblies.
Raw Materials
| Material | Typical Application |
|---|---|
| PP | Lightweight housings requiring suitable flexibility and moisture resistance |
| ABS | Rigid housings requiring good surface appearance and dimensional stability |
| HIPS | Economical housing applications |
| PC+ABS | Applications requiring a balance of strength, impact resistance, and appearance |
| PBT | Applications requiring dimensional and thermal stability |
| Nylon / PA | Applications requiring higher mechanical strength |
| Glass-Filled Nylon | Structural housing applications requiring increased stiffness |
| ASA | Applications requiring suitable weather and UV resistance |
| Flame-Retardant Plastic | Electrical equipment housing applications requiring enhanced fire-performance characteristics, subject to specification |
| Engineering Plastic | Applications requiring specific mechanical, thermal, or environmental properties |
The final plastic grade should be selected according to mechanical loading, motor and electrical component temperatures, impact requirements, moisture exposure, vibration, cleaning chemicals, operating conditions, assembly requirements, and expected service life. Where the housing encloses electrical components, appropriate electrical insulation and flame-performance characteristics should be considered according to the actual application requirements.
Quality Control
Raw Material Inspection: Plastic grade, colour, and incoming material condition are checked before production.
Mould Inspection: Cavity, core, housing geometry, mounting features, cooling system, venting, and ejection system are inspected.
Dimensional Inspection: Overall dimensions, wall thickness, mounting points, openings, tank interfaces, hose connections, and critical assembly interfaces are checked.
Visual Inspection: Components are inspected for flash, short shots, sink marks, warpage, scratches, burn marks, flow marks, and other moulding defects.
Component Clearance Inspection: Motor, pump, wiring, electrical components, tanks, hoses, connectors, and other internal component clearances are verified according to the approved design.
Mounting Inspection: Screw posts, bosses, clips, tabs, ribs, and locating features are checked for proper integration with internal components and mating housing parts.
Structural Inspection: Reinforced areas, mounting sections, handles or handle interfaces, and other load-bearing features are checked according to the approved specifications.
Assembly Fitment Inspection: The housing is checked for proper fitment with tanks, covers, motor assemblies, pumps, controls, wheels, hoses, handles, and other specified components.
Surface Finish Inspection: Visible housing surfaces are inspected for texture consistency, scratches, sink marks, flow defects, and other appearance-related issues.
Packaging Inspection: Finished components are protected against scratches, deformation, dust, and handling damage during storage and transportation.
Buyer Guide
When sourcing an Electric Upholstery Cleaner Plastic Main Body Housing Mould and Moulding Service, buyers should provide the housing dimensions, 2D engineering drawing or 3D CAD model, internal component layout, motor and pump details, tank interfaces, hose connections, electrical component locations, mounting arrangement, preferred plastic grade, colour, surface finish, and estimated production quantity.
For new product development, attention should be given to housing strength, internal component clearances, motor heat, ventilation, electrical isolation, water and moisture exposure, vibration, impact resistance, cleaning chemicals, cable routing, tank fitment, hose connections, assembly method, and the actual operating environment of the upholstery cleaner.
