Industrial Applications
| Application Area | Usage |
|---|---|
| Home Inverters | Transformer protection and internal assembly integration |
| UPS Systems | Protective transformer covering |
| Power Backup Equipment | Transformer enclosure and component separation |
| Residential Power Systems | Internal transformer protection |
| Commercial Inverter Systems | Transformer cover applications |
| OEM Inverter Manufacturing | Customized transformer cover production |
Manufacturing Process
1. Product Design & Development
The transformer cover is developed according to the transformer dimensions, mounting points, terminal locations, wire routing, available enclosure space, and required clearances. Ventilation, fixing features, and assembly interfaces are reviewed during product development.
2. Plastic Mould Design
A precision injection mould is designed with suitable cavity and core geometry, parting line, gate location, cooling channels, venting, and ejection arrangement. Particular attention is given to wall thickness, ribs, bosses, clips, wire clearances, and ventilation openings.
3. Mould Manufacturing
Mould components are manufactured using suitable mould steel such as P20, H13, or S136 according to production volume and required mould durability. CNC machining, EDM, drilling, polishing, fitting, and mould assembly are performed as required.
4. Injection Moulding
The selected thermoplastic material is heated and injected into the mould cavity under controlled processing conditions. After cooling, the transformer cover is ejected from the mould. Processing parameters are controlled to achieve consistent dimensions and surface quality.
5. Finishing & Assembly Preparation
After moulding, gates and excess material are removed where applicable. The transformer cover is visually inspected and prepared for installation around the transformer assembly and integration with the inverter enclosure.
6. Quality Inspection
Finished transformer covers are inspected for overall dimensions, transformer clearance, mounting features, wire and terminal clearance, ventilation openings, surface quality, deformation, and proper fitment.
Raw Materials
| Material | Typical Use |
|---|---|
| ABS | Rigid transformer covers with good surface appearance |
| HIPS | Economical protective cover applications |
| PP | Lightweight covers requiring suitable flexibility |
| PC+ABS | Applications requiring a balance of strength, impact resistance, and appearance |
| PC | Applications requiring higher impact resistance or specific thermal performance |
| PBT | Selected electrical and dimensional applications |
| Flame-Retardant Plastics | Applications requiring enhanced fire-performance characteristics, subject to specification |
The final plastic grade should be selected according to the transformer's operating temperature, required electrical separation, mechanical requirements, ventilation needs, and surrounding environmental conditions. The selected material should be validated for the actual operating temperature and electrical application.
Quality Control
Raw Material Inspection: Plastic grade, colour, and incoming material condition are checked.
Mould Inspection: Cavity, core, ribs, bosses, clips, ventilation features, ejection system, and cooling arrangement are inspected.
Dimensional Inspection: Overall dimensions, wall thickness, transformer clearance, mounting points, and critical features are checked.
Visual Inspection: Components are checked for flash, short shots, sink marks, warpage, weld lines, scratches, and other moulding defects.
Transformer Fitment Inspection: The cover is checked against the specified transformer assembly and surrounding clearances.
Wire & Terminal Clearance Inspection: Cable routing and terminal clearances are verified according to the approved design.
Assembly Inspection: Mounting and locating features are checked for proper integration with the inverter enclosure.
Packaging Inspection: Finished components are packed appropriately to minimize scratches, deformation, and handling damage.
