X-Ray Machine Plastic Tube Head Collimator Housing Mould and Moulding Service
X-Ray Machine Plastic Tube Head Collimator Housing Mould and Moulding Service | Renovator Appliances Ltd
Product Overview
Renovator Appliances Ltd manufactures X-Ray Machine Plastic Tube Head Collimator Housings using precision Plastic Injection Moulding and custom mould manufacturing processes. The collimator housing is the structural enclosure around the collimator assembly at the front of an X-ray tube head, providing mounting support, component protection, and controlled interfaces for the collimator mechanism and related front-end components.
The housing is designed according to the collimator assembly dimensions, X-ray beam outlet geometry, mounting points, internal clearances, adjustment mechanism interfaces, cable or connector routing, and mating tube-head structure. Precise moulding is important for maintaining alignment between the housing and the collimator assembly while providing sufficient rigidity for repeated adjustment and operation.
Key Features
Application-specific collimator housing geometry
Accurate interface with the X-ray tube head
Controlled beam-exit opening geometry
Precision mounting and locating features
Internal clearance for collimator components
Reinforced mounting areas
Provision for adjustment mechanism interfaces

Industrial Applications
| Application Area | Component Function |
|---|---|
| X-Ray Tube Head Assembly | Provides the structural housing around the collimator assembly |
| Diagnostic X-Ray Systems | Supports and protects collimator-related components |
| Medical Imaging Equipment | Provides a controlled front-end enclosure interface |
| Mobile X-Ray Machines | Integrates the collimator assembly with the tube head |
| Fixed X-Ray Systems | Supports the front collimator housing structure |
| OEM X-Ray Equipment | Customized housing for specific tube head designs |
Manufacturing Process
1. Product Design & Development
The collimator housing is developed from the complete tube head and collimator assembly. Important parameters include the beam outlet interface, collimator mounting points, internal component clearances, adjustment mechanism locations, front cover interfaces, cable routing, and structural support requirements.
Because the collimator is associated with the X-ray beam path, the housing geometry and openings are developed according to the equipment manufacturer's engineering specifications. Plastic housing components must not be assumed to provide radiation shielding unless specifically engineered and validated for that purpose.
2. Plastic Mould Design
The mould is designed to reproduce the housing profile, beam-outlet opening, mounting bosses, locating features, ribs, adjustment interfaces, and fastening details accurately. Core and cavity geometry is optimized for dimensional stability, while draft, parting-line placement, gate location, cooling, shrinkage allowance, and ejection are considered to minimize warpage around critical interfaces.
3. Mould Manufacturing
The mould is manufactured using precision machining and mould-making processes. P20, H13, S136, or another suitable mould steel can be selected according to production volume, plastic material, surface-finish requirements, and expected mould life. Critical cavity, core, opening, and mounting dimensions are inspected before production trials.
4. Injection Moulding
The selected plastic material is injection moulded under controlled processing conditions. Injection pressure, speed, melt temperature, holding pressure, and cooling time are adjusted according to the material and housing geometry. Controlled filling and cooling help maintain the beam-outlet interface, mounting locations, and overall housing profile.
5. Finishing & Assembly Preparation
After moulding, gates, runners, flash, and excess material are removed. The beam outlet, mounting interfaces, adjustment openings, and mating surfaces are checked for flash or obstruction. Visible surfaces are inspected for sink marks, flow marks, warpage, and other moulding defects before assembly.
6. Quality Inspection
Finished collimator housings are inspected for overall dimensions, beam-outlet opening geometry, mounting-hole positions, locating features, wall thickness, internal clearances, mating interfaces, flatness, warpage, surface finish, and flash. Trial assembly with the specified collimator and tube head components verifies mechanical fit and alignment.
Raw Materials
| Material / Component | Typical Selection Consideration |
|---|---|
| ABS | Suitable for rigid enclosure and housing components |
| PC+ABS | Considered where improved impact resistance and dimensional stability are required |
| PC | Suitable where higher impact performance is required |
| PBT | Considered where dimensional stability and mechanical performance are required |
| Flame-Retardant ABS | Considered where enclosure specifications require flame-retardant properties |
| Flame-Retardant PC+ABS | Suitable where specified flame-retardant and mechanical properties are required |
| Engineering Plastic | Selected according to mechanical, thermal, dimensional, and equipment requirements |
| P20 Steel | Suitable for general-purpose production moulds |
| H13 Steel | Suitable for demanding production conditions |
| S136 Steel | Suitable where corrosion resistance and high-quality mould surfaces are required |
Quality Control
Renovator Appliances Ltd applies dimensional, visual, and assembly inspections throughout collimator-housing production. Key inspection areas include:
Overall housing dimensions
Beam-outlet opening dimensions
Opening alignment
Mounting-hole position
Mounting-boss dimensions
Locating-feature accuracy
Internal component clearance
Adjustment mechanism clearance
Mating-surface accuracy
Wall thickness
Flatness
Warpage
Surface finish
Flash and burr inspection
Sink marks and moulding defects
Assembly fitment
Material compliance with specified equipment requirements
Buyer Guide
When sourcing an X-Ray Machine Plastic Tube Head Collimator Housing, buyers should provide the CAD model or engineering drawing, collimator dimensions, tube head interface dimensions, beam-outlet geometry, mounting locations, adjustment-mechanism details, required clearances, plastic material specification, surface-finish requirements, and production quantity.
The housing should be evaluated with the complete collimator and tube head assembly because alignment depends on multiple mating components. The plastic housing should not be treated as radiation shielding unless the material, thickness, geometry, and complete assembly have been specifically engineered and validated for that purpose.
For medical X-ray equipment, final component validation should follow the applicable mechanical, electrical, thermal, radiation-safety, and regulatory requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is an X-Ray Machine Plastic Tube Head Collimator Housing?
It is a moulded plastic structural enclosure that surrounds and supports the collimator assembly at the front of an X-ray tube head.
2. Does the plastic collimator housing provide radiation shielding?
Not automatically. A standard plastic housing should not be considered a radiation-shielding component unless it has been specifically engineered, tested, and validated for that purpose.
3. Which plastic materials can be used?
ABS, PC+ABS, PC, PBT, and specified flame-retardant engineering plastics can be considered according to the equipment's mechanical, thermal, dimensional, electrical, and safety requirements.
4. Can the housing be customized for a specific collimator?
Yes. The housing can be developed according to the customer's CAD data or engineering drawings, including the beam outlet, mounting interfaces, adjustment openings, internal clearances, and tube-head mating geometry.
5. Can Renovator Appliances Ltd manufacture both the mould and collimator housing?
Yes. Renovator Appliances Ltd can provide the complete service from component development and mould design to mould manufacturing, Plastic Injection Moulding, quality inspection, and OEM/ODM production.
